Daniel Mason New Paintings

We are pleased to announce our next gallery exhibition of new paintings by Twin Cities artist Daniel Mason. His colorful, minimal, and atmospheric landscapes will be on display from March 13th through April 17th. A reception, open to the public, will be held on Saturday, March 13th from 5-8 pm.
Daniel Mason developed a painting technique in the early 1980s that he uses to this day. It involves an additive and reductive layering of color glazes that illuminate and form basic geometric shapes which populate quiet landscapes. Straight and curvilinear lines suggest architecture, undulating terrain, and distant horizons that reference memorable and vital experiences in three distinct geographic locales – San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala; Fish Hoek, South Africa; and Brooklyn, New York. Consistent with earlier works, the paintings in this exhibition highlight the artist’s ability to successfully bring together his life experiences, creative thought process, and skillful hand.
Daniel Mason received his Bachelor of Arts degree in studio arts at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Iowa. He has exhibited widely throughout the region and is represented in numerous collections including General Mills, Federal Reserve Bank, Piper Jaffray and Hopwood, and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation.
