Summer Invitational III
July 10 - August 21
We are pleased to announce our third annual Summer Invitational featuring the work of Twin Cities artists Terrence Campagna, Brian Jorgenson, Rashaun Kartak and Justin Schlepp. This quartet of young, independent artists will integrate their work to harmoniously inhabit our exhibition space from July 10th - August 21st. There will be a reception open to the public on Friday, July 10th from 6-9 p.m.
Terrence Campagna, Director of Field Research at the Neighborhood Center for the Study of Undocumented Relationships, is a recent graduate from the Master of Fine Arts program at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). His primary source of artmaking materials is refuse - "cast offs of our consumer culture" collected on cross-country treks and Twin Cities neighborhood jaunts. The resulting inventory often becomes the essence of large, spiraling wall reliefs.
Brian Jorgenson is a 2007 Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from MCAD. His work is meticulously painted, drawn, cut, and assembled into spectral fields of optical energy. They are kaleidoscopic works constructed piece by piece; chromatic systems that project a sense of both order and chaos.
Rashaun Kartak graduated from MCAD in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her work incorporates traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. She has drawn her inspiration from published color theory, but pushes boundaries to procure a balance of geometry, composition, and pigmented alchemy.
Justin Schlepp, also a 2006 Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from MCAD, has a broad-based interest in artmaking, ranging from installations and performance to sketchbook presentations. His work and philosophy have a humorous and subliminal eclecticism that mimic history, popular culture, and personal encounters.
